Vic Roads Pre-Qualified Companies

Just Traffic has applied to VicRoads for pre-qualification status.  Just Traffic believes in Quality and Occupational Health & Safety.  Our Quality Management System has been certified as comlying with ISO9001:2008, and Occupational Health & Safety System (OHS) have been certified against AS4801:2001/ISO18001 by Sustainable Certification Pty Ltd.

According to the VicRoads website:

"VicRoads has a Pre-qualification Scheme that is structured into Groups of similar work types. Each Group is further divided into Categories that may have Levels that define areas of expertise or competency. There are currently nine Groups which are as follows:

  • Maintenance and General Works

  • Road and Bridge Construction

  • Road and Bridge Design

  • Traffic Management Services (Consultants)

  • Traffic Management Services (Contractors)

  • Transport Planning & Project Assessment

The VicRoads Pre-Qualification Scheme Information [PDF, 66KB] shows the structure of the scheme including a brief explanation for each level.

Each Level has defined eligibility criteria which must be considered and addressed by suppliers when submitting details for an application for pre-qualification. Application forms and eligibility criteria are available for each Group.

The VicRoads Conditions of Pre-qualification [DOC, 69KB, 2pp] govern the operation of the Scheme. In applying for pre-qualification suppliers agree to abide by these Conditions.

VicRoads maintains a Register of Pre-qualified Contractors & Consultants that have met the required eligibility criteria for a particular Category and Level of work and that have performed satisfactorily when carrying out works or services for VicRoads.

Pre-qualification allows suppliers to submit tenders for VicRoads works or services where the request for tenders requires pre-qualification at a particular Category and Level."

Important Notice:

  • Traffic control using stop/slow bat – all field personnel designated as a Traffic Controller have undertaken a course in traffic control (e.g. VBQU506 - “Use stop/slow bat to control traffic”, RIIOHS205A – “Control Traffic with a stop/slow bat” or equivalent), or an appropriate refresher course (within the last three years), from a Registered Training Organisation accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
  • Traffic Guidance Scheme (TGS) implementation – all field personnel responsible for setting out, implementing and/or monitoring a TGS (as required by a traffic management plan) have undertaken a course in TGS implementation (e.g. VBQU507 - “Implement and monitor operational traffic management plans”, RIIOHS302A – “Implement traffic management plan” or equivalent), or an appropriate refresher course (within the last three years), from a Registered Training Organisation accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

 

Codes of Practice 

The Road Management Act 2004 includes provision for the making of Codes of Practice to provide practical guiadance for road authorities, and works and infrastructure managers in the performance of their functions and duties under the Act.  The Codes are:

1. Code of Practice for Operational Responsibility for Public Roads

This Code provides guidance in determining the physical limits of operational responsibility between road authorities for different the parts or elements within the road reserve of public roads.

2. Code of Practice for Clearways on Declared Arterial Roads

This code provides guidance to VicRoads in the establishment of proper management and consultation processes with regard to the implementation of clearways on declared arterial roads.

3. Code of Practice for Road Management Plans

This Code provides guidance for road authorities in the making of a road management plan for the insoection, maintenance and repair of public roads.

4. Code of Practice for Management of Infrastructure in Road Reserves

This Code provides guidance for road authorities, utilities and providers of public transprt in planning and managing their infrastructure in road reserves.

5. Code of Practice for Worksite Safethy - Traffic Management

This Code provides practical guidance to any person conducting, or proposing to conduct, any works on roads in Victoria.
